Ed Marter demonstrates knowledge of megaminx 2LLL

2 years ago, Ed Marter surprised everyone in the cubing community by suddently making a video demonstrating his ability to recognise and execute the right algorithm for every last layer case, essentially he had learned full one look last layer. Most speedcubers use a form of 2 look last layer where the pieces are orientated and then permuted into the right place, however, it is likely to be faster if someone is able to fully utilize one look last layer as less moves are required and you don't have to look again.

The trouble is with one look last layer is the number of possible cases and the difficulty of recognising them. The number of algorithms can vary depending on whether mirrors are counted separately, the number usually quoted is 3916 algorithms required, some of these will be skip cases but most will have to be learnt as separate algorithms. While many were impressed with Ed Marter's ability to demonstrate a working knowledge of every last layer case, it was noted that his fingertricks weren't great and his F2L ability was not great either.

In his latest video, it seems he has made a return to speedcubing and learnt full megaminx 2 look last layer in just 5 days. Megaminx 2 look last layer has a total of 329 algorithms and even some top megaminx solvers don't actually know every case. While his ability to learn loads of algorithms quickly is impressive, it is questionable how useful it is if he isn't willing to actually practice fingertricks and become efficient at the non-algorithmic parts of solving cubes. I can solve a 3x3 faster than him despite essentially only knowing 2 look last layer, and there are 6 year olds faster than me.
