Update from late August 2025: The Gan 16 has now been released and is available for purchase
Gan have been sending out samples of the upcoming Gan 16 to top cubers over the last few months. UK National Record holder, James Alonso is known to be currently using one at competitions and has recently signed a sponsorship contract with Gan, unfortunately it didn't come in time for him to attend the World Cubing Championships 2025.
What we know so far is that Gan 16 will still not have adjustable magnets. I got to briefly try a sample while out in the US last month and can confirm that it feels very much like the MoYu WeiLong V11 which is interesting and suggests that Gan are acknowledging that top cubers are preferring the recent MoYu releases and are therefore making their cubes feel more similar to that. Earlier this year, world record holder, YiHeng Wang, switched to MoYu cubes and signed a new sponsorship contract with MoYu once his previous one with Gan expired, I suspect there are fears that other Gan sponsorees such as XuanYi Geng could follow suit soon.
Pricing wise, we can only assume that it will be similar to the Gan 15 as it will be Gan's annual flagship and all their previous annual flagships have been around £60. I suspect Gan will try and get it released slightly earlier this year, maybe in September so that cubers around the world can get their new cube in time for Christmas, they may even have already signed off a production model and started producing them in the factory in China, they probably want to ensure they have sufficient initial stock before officially releasing it.
There have also been rumours that Gan will also release a Gan 16 UI, a smartcube version of their new flagship. Gan released the Gan 12 UI back in 2022 but it had various connection issues and ultimately, most cube stores stopped stocking them, Gan will have to do a good job with this product to make it compete with some of the new MoYu Smartcubes, as well as justifying the higher price than some of Gan's budget smart cubes such as the Gan I carry 2
