Graham Siggins finally solves 11x11 blindfolded

After a total of 28 failed attempts, Graham Siggins successfully solved an 11x11 blindfolded in 1:13:46, less than half the time of the previous World Best by Enoch Gray and only the 2nd successful 11x11 blindfolded solve ever recorded.

Enoch Gray was the first to solve an 11x11 blindfolded all the way back in 2019, his time of 2 hours and 35 minutes was by no means slow and it would take 6 years before anyone else successfully solved an 11x11 blindfolded, Enoch Gray was also the first to solve a 10x10 blindfolded, another feat which Graham Siggins achieved in a faster time earlier this year.

Graham Siggins is a very well known cuber in the blindfolded events, he has held the world record for 3x3 multiblind at many times throughout the last few years and has been regularly streaming large blindfolded attempts over the last year. Technically, solving an 11x11 blindfolded doesn't require as much memorization as his 60 cube blindfolded attempts but it requires a lot more care to ensure nothing goes wrong, in 3x3 multiblind, if one cube is not solved then you only lose 2 points, whereas, if the 11x11 is not solved then the entire attempt is failed.

Solving an 11x11 blindfolded requires memorizing around 600 letters which each refer to different sets of pieces on the cube, so you will assign a set of 24 letters to each set of inner edges and corners. Graham Siggins does have experience memorizing far larger numbers of letters as he once did a 300 cube multi-blind attempt at home which took about 11 hours!

DianSheng have commented already on the video offering to send him one of their 12x12s for free so that he can attempt to solve that blindfolded. As far as I am aware, no one has even attempted to solve a 12x12 blindfolded yet, when Enoch Gray was actively cubing back in 2019, there was no mass produced 12x12 available so he went straight to 13x13 but gave up after 4 failed attempts. It seems that Graham Siggins is far more willing to keep trying after many failed attempts, if he does successfully solve a 12x12 blindfolded then it could go down as arguably the most impressive cubing feat ever.
