What 7x7 should you buy in 2025?

Best 7x7 Speedcubes in 2025 – Budget to Pro (MoYu, QiYi, YJ, DianSheng)

7x7 is the largest puzzle with official WCA competitions, and it’s also the biggest category with a wide range of hardware choices. Most major brands now offer multiple 7x7 options, and picking the right cube can noticeably improve your solves.

Budget 7x7 Options (Great Value)

MoYu MeiLong 7x7 V2M — from £15

The MeiLong 7x7 V2M has been popular for a while. Out of the box it’s a solid budget option at £15, though at high level most people consider it viable only with heavy modding (some add core magnets or hollow pieces).

QiYi Warrior 7x7 M UV — £15

A new challenger at the same price point with a UV-coated finish and very smooth feel. It has a slightly hollow character reminiscent of a DaYan. Right now, this is likely QiYi’s best-performing 7x7 despite pricier alternatives.

Heads up: QiYi’s initial batch had a few units with a logo on a corner (not competition legal). I’ll avoid sending those out (unless specifically requested), but if you buy elsewhere you might receive one of those early-logo units.

QiYi Warrior 7x7 (Non-Magnetic, Non-UV) — £11

At around £11 this is arguably the best sub-£15 7x7 right now if you’re after the absolute lowest price and don’t need magnets/UV.

Mid–High Tier Picks (Smaller, Faster, Stronger)

MoYu AoFu V5 7x7 — from £35

MoYu’s latest is even smaller than the WRM version at just 61.5 mm—it makes the classic YJ MGC 7x7 (67 mm) feel huge. Three magnetic systems are available:

  • Single Trackcorner–edge magnets (≈ £35)
  • Dual Trackcorner–edge + corner–core magnets (≈ £45). This is the version I’m using currently.
  • Triple Track — even more magnetic stability (≈ £57)

YJ MGC 7x7 — £27

Still a viable option at a great price. Most solvers will prefer paying a bit more for the AoFu WRM or the new AoFu V5 unless you specifically want the larger 67 mm size and feel of the MGC.

MoYu AoFu WRM 7x7 (64 mm)

I’ve stocked up on WRMs after the V5 release because I suspect MoYu may stop producing the WRM. If you prefer a slightly larger 64 mm cube that still performs at a high level, I’d grab one while they’re available.

There’s also a premium variant with a PiCube core and UV coat for an even crisper feel:

AoFu WRM PiCube Core Magnetic UV — (premium performance; highest price of the AoFu line).

Collector / Novelty

DianSheng SMC 7x7 (56 mm)

This ultra-compact 56 mm 7x7 actually turns very well and includes both corner–edge and corner–core magnets. However, it’s simply too small for serious speedsolving—best viewed as a collector’s piece (and a fun novelty that famously fits in a tiny box).

Which 7x7 Should You Buy?

FAQ

What size is best for 7x7 speedsolving?
Most solvers prefer the modern smaller sizes (61–64 mm). The AoFu V5 at 61.5 mm is very compact; the AoFu WRM at 64 mm is a comfortable “classic small.”

Do magnets matter on 7x7?
Yes. Corner–edge magnets are standard at mid/high tiers, and added corner–core (dual/tri-track) systems increase stability and accuracy at speed.

Is the 56 mm DianSheng SMC good for speed?
It turns well but is too small for most hands in speedsolves—think of it as a collectible.
