7 year old XuanYi Geng broke the 3x3 world record single last weekend only two months after YiHeng Wang finally broke it. XuanYi Geng is known for his ability to predict very far into the solve and knowing full ZBLL, although on this occasion he would have been better off just doing the standard algorithm as default.
The scramble was R2 D2 R2 D2 U' F2 D L2 B2 R' D R B2 U2 L R2 D U2 F R2 and there is nothing immediately obviously good about the scramble, XuanYi actually begins by holding the cross colour he wants to solve at the top and then doing a wide l2, he then solves most of the cross with F L' before doing a U' to allow him to pair up the first pair with R, he then has a free first pair which he inserts with U R' U2' R, this sets up another free pair which will in turn set up a third free pair! He does U L U' L' for his 2nd pair and then U L' U' L for his 3rd, finally he does the standard insert for the 4th pair with R U2' R' U' R U R' before doing the regular OLL algorithm for the case which happens to give a PLL skip (although he obviously knew that because he knows full ZBLL [and even if he didn't he probably would still know by this point])
