Luke Garrett breaks 3x3 one-handed World Record Average

The world record for 3x3 with one hand was broken for the third time of the year so far on Sunday 9th March as Luke Garrett achieved an incredible time of 7.72 seconds, this is a big jump as it beats Nicholas Archer's time by 0.23 seconds. Luke Garrett is by some measurements the best cuber in the world all round and was previously regarded as the greatest cuber to never hold a world record.

Luke Garrett uses CFOP which is the method used by almost all the top 3x3 speedsolvers but is less common among top one-handed solvers due to the higher movecount, however, Luke Garrett smashed the previous world record in a result that improved on his PR average by over a second, he was previously ranked 13th in the world.

Luke Garrett was actually so fast on his first 4 solves that the final solve became irrelevant as he had already got the world record regardless of the 5th solve time (the best and worst times are removed from the average) so he celebrated by leaping out of his chair and cheering in a very ecstatic reaction (the complete opposite of Nicholas Archer's reaction). Robert Yau (inventor of the Yau method for 4x4) compared images of his reaction to the 3 legged man on the Isle of Man flag. Will the world record continue to fall in the next few months?
