YJ MGC Meta 3x3 review - all 3 versions

YJ MGC Meta 3x3 review - all 3 versions

The YJ MGC Meta 3x3 is another new 3x3 from YJ, YJ have experimented with many different 3x3s over the past few years which have often felt quite unusual and not gained much interest from the cubing community, but it is somewhat sad that people don't get to try these cubes because they received very little attention. The MGC Appari felt very strange, and the MGC EST felt even more strange with its hollow design. In 2025, they have made slightly more normal speedcubes such as the MGC Beta earlier this year.

The MGC Meta is another more normal speedcube release from YJ, although it does feature some more unusual features such as centre-edge magnets. The cube is available in 3 versions at a mid-range price, with the standard version being £16 and the most expensive version being £24. All 3 versions are 55.5mm which is slightly larger than a lot of modern speedcubes, although the same as the WeiLong V11. All 3 versions have a spring tensioning system which is interesting as most cube brands are migrating over to maglev these days, especially for the maxed out version.

The Standard version features corner-edge magnets as normal, although it also has centre-edge magnets too. We haven't seen centre-edge magnets in a new speedcube for a while, the magnets are much further down the centre pieces than other centre-edge magnetic cubes such as the Valk Elite. The cube isn't UV coated and has a very frosted feeling to it.

The next version up is available for £22, it features corner-core magnets and UV coating but doesn't have the centre-edge magnets seen on the standard and maxed out version.

The maxed out version is available for £24, it features corner-core, corner-edge, edge-core and centre-edge magnets which is a lot of magnets, the cube comes with extra torpedoes which can be used to remove the edge-core magnets if you would prefer not to have them.

All in all, this cube is a good new 3x3 release, it features great corner-cutting and feels smooth, it is a bit slower than some other recent releases.
