Gan recently made an advert on Instagram showing off some of their very fast young Gan gurus, they chose one boy and one girl of around 7-8 years old, with the captions 'I am just a little kid' and then the video goes on about how we shouldn't think little of them because they have big dreams to solve cubes very fast. It is quite a strange marketing campaign and probably not translated very well but it shows how the Chinese culture has shifted to training up very young children to solve cubes very fast.
At the end of the video, we see the two cubers racing with what is obviously a deliberately easy scramble, the boy (XuanYi Geng) solves it in 3.07 and then the girl (Cao QiXian) proceeds to solve in 3.06 and obviously XuanYi Geng looks disappointed about that!
It is funny how the times both beat YiHeng Wang's 3.08 single by such a tiny margin, despite YiHeng Wang breaking the world record single 2 days after the video was released.
It is a reminder that with the right support, cubers can learn to solve cubes very fast at a very young age.
