The end of the Googol series?

The end of the Googol series?

The DianSheng Googol series is a series of larger than normal puzzles from DianSheng, they first released a series of 7CM-10CM 3x3 speedcubes that were also magnetic and turned pretty well, they proved that larger than normal puzzles could still turn like normal speedcubes. My most viewed video is a short where the world record holder, YiHeng Wang solves the 10CM 3x3 but he really struggled because he was 9 years old!

Since then, DianSheng have also made some other large puzzles, they have mostly settled on the 9CM size, although their Hulk Pyraminx is notably even larger (although not as large as the QiYi Giant Pyraminxes!), in the picture I was solving the Hulk Pyraminx, in the far right is a normal size pyraminx!

The Googol series can be used to teach cubing as a larger puzzle is more visible in a room full of students, but I feel that in the UK they are mostly used just for the fun of playing with a weirdly sized puzzle, I would love to see some more giant puzzles but the remaining options are significantly more challenging to design and mass-produce. A Giant Square-1 probably wouldn’t be too difficult though, and maybe eventually a giant 4x4, I just have a feeling that they won’t bother with that though.

DianSheng then released a Googol 2x2 which weirdly has an adjustment system, it performs pretty well but is 9CM in size.

They also released a Googol Ivy Cube for some reason, probably something to do with Chinese cubing schools where Ivy Cube is apparently quite popular.

The Googol Skewb was released quite recently and is probably offers the greatest challenge to solve fast as the size completely ruins your ability to do the normal skewb fingertricks.

The Googol Megaminx is also 9CM but in height, Megaminxes are already larger in height than 3x3s and skewbs so the 9CM size doesn’t actually make that much difference and I was surprised with how close I was to getting my normal times with it.
