How does a speedcube work?

In order for me to stock the DianSheng Googol 34.8CM 3x3x3, I had to tell my suppliers to disassemble them before sending them to make it viable for me to stock them. The cube consists of 73 parts: 12 edges split in two pieces; 8 corners split in three pieces; 6 centres; 6 centre caps; 6 screws and 6 springs. This gave me a unique opportunity to explain how a cube is built and how it functions, the DianSheng Googol 34.8CM 3x3x3 is certainly very big but it is built in a similar way to every modern speedcube.
