Dhruva Sai Meruva breaks world record for 3x3 one handed

Dhruva Sai Meruva breaks world record for 3x3 one handed

Last weekend, Dhruva Sai Meruva who now competes for Switzerland broke the world record for 3x3 with one hand single solve. His time of 5.66 is a massive improvement on the previous world record of 6.05 set by Sean Patrick Villanueva earlier this year and is also the first drop to a new second in 9 years! His time also equals Feliks Zemdegs world record for regular 3x3 of 5.66 from 2011.

He stated on his video that he came to the competition with the goal of getting world record average as he didn't care about the single, however, he choked the average in both rounds but got two good singles, one being the world record.

His solve was also done using CFOP which is also interesting to see as most top solvers in One handed are using Roux these days, it suggests that there is still hope for CFOP as a method in one handed. Looking at the reconstruction, the solve doesn't even seen that efficient, it looks like he was able to just spam R and U moves really fast as the solve just required loads of them, he also did a surprising number of rotations in the solve.
