Gan 15 won't have adjustable magnets

Gan 15 won't have adjustable magnets

While there is always speculation about what cubes various cube brands will release next, there is one obvious release we can all expect before the end of the year and that is the Gan 15. Gan release their annual flagship 3x3 around September-October every year and we have no reason the expect anything different this year.

Chris Mills revealed on Cubecast recently that while he was at Gan's factory for the SmartCube Super League that he had the opportunity to test various samples of the Gan 15, apparently Gan has 15 samples on the table and got the various cubers there to select the one they thought was best. It is exciting to see Gan genuinely engage with fast cubers to let them decide which one is actually better.

Many top cubers have stuck with the Gan 12 despite the release of the Gan 13 and Gan 14, so it is imperative for Gan that they get the Gan 15 release right, If the Gan 15 isn't good then it will do a lot of damage to Gan's reputation. While Gan may have been able to release some excellent products for other events over the past few years, they definitely sell more 3x3s than anything else so they need to ensure that their 3x3s are really competitive, especially if they are going to keep charging a lot.

It is interesting to see it confirmed that there won't be adjustable magnets, last year, Gan boasted of how the Gan 14 has 1296 customisation options, it seems that they have understood that having too many customisation options is simply adding extra complications for little to no benefit. I just wonder whether the price will also come down since Gan won't have to engineer in the adjustable magnet strength.
