MoYu is releasing a magnetic Redi cube

The Redi cube was first released in 2018 and for a while it seemed as though MoYu were keen to try and get it to become an official WCA event but enthusiasm for it died down over time and most people just assumed the puzzle was no longer relevant. The idea behind the redi cube is that corners turn but since each corner turning also turns an edge, the puzzle can quickly get a bit more scrambled, this idea has been implemented on many other much more complicated puzzles such as the Mix-up Skewb.

The Redi cube design has also been adapted to a megaminx in the form of the Rediminx which is now a rare puzzle as it is out of production, there is also a barrel version of the Redi cube.

However, MoYu have recently announced that they will soon be releasing a much improved version of the Redi cube with 72 magnets, including a magnetic ball core, the cube also features tension and elasticity adjustment for some reason. Despite the added weight from the magnets, MoYu claim to have also almost halved the weight of the Redi cube.

It will be interesting to see how many people actually care about such a puzzle, the original Redi cube itself was already more expensive than it really should have been and this version will probably be over twice the price, do MoYu really expect to sell many of these?
