Who will win the UK Championships 2024 this weekend!

The UK Championships begins tomorrow and will continue for 3 days with different events and various rounds of the events.

I probably no longer have any realistic chance of podiumming anymore, however, I said the same last year and still podiummed in 7x7 somehow, but lets have a look at the more interesting events.

For Pyraminx, the main contenders are Edward Burgess and Daniel Partridge, Daniel Partridge has a faster official average but failed to even make finals at Euros in July while Edward Burgess podiummed.

For 2x2, there are 3 people with official averages under 1.3 seconds so it really is all to play for, one mistake could completely ruin it for someone so the pressure is on.

For megaminx, Aidan Grainger and Sean Moran are well ahead of anyone else, Aidan Grainger has got slightly ahead in the past year and even won the European Championships, but if he performs badly on the day then Sean Moran could take the win instead.

For 3x3 Blindfolded, it is pretty much between Jaye Sloan and Ben Stokes with Ryan Eckersley having a small chance (he is almost guaranteed to win 4x4 and 5x5 blindfolded though), there is going to be a lot of stratergy here as they will have to take things safe enough to ensure at least one success but the success needs to be faster than everyone else.

Ariel Benchetrit will almost certainly win Skewb, Nicholas Archer will almost certainly win 3x3 one-handed, clock is a bit less predictable now with the rise of 7-Simul, Jacob Chambers no longer has national record and many others are close so there are lots of people who have a realistic chance of winning clock.

For big cubes, Eli Jay is no longer completely dominant and others have a chance, for some reason Dean David, who recently beat 4x4 national record average, is not actually going so Eli Jay will probably still hang on to 4x4 and 5x5. for 6x6 and 7x7 I still have a tiny chance but Daniel Partridge has recently beaten Eli Jay's National Records and has a pretty good chance of winning UK championships.

For 3x3, James Alonso will almost certainly win but surprises can happen, Nicholas Archer or Caleb Wolf Dunn do still have a chance, George Scholey looks like he would have a chance according to the rankings lists but he has never dealt with the pressue of major championships well.
