MoYu are releasing a new BlueTooth Timer

MoYu are releasing a new BlueTooth Timer

MoYu recently posted on their Instagram page about their new timer, it showed a video of a cuber solving a cube in les than 5 seconds with the timer, the time was then connected directly to a tablet screen which then stopped at the same time. We can ignore the fact that the scramble looked a bit suspicious because the point of the post is about the timer, it appears they are releasing a BlueTooth timer similar to the QiYi Smart Timer, I hope that MoYu will be able to finally make an app that functions well and is reliable, that way cubers might finally be able to have a genuine application for storing all their times from a stackmat style timer without any wires or special set ups.

The post also shows a picture of the timer connected to a MoYu branded Tournament display. MoYu did previously release a display but it never really caught on and I didn't stock it, if MoYu are able to make a dispay that is more reliable and more energy efficient than the QiYi display then I think a lot of cubers and cubing organisations will get them, the challenge is ensuring that the display is accurate and can be mounted easily.

Ultimately, I hope that MoYu have an app for this timer that is reliable and consistent and allows times to be transferred and stored in the cloud across multiple devices. It would be even better if the timer doesn't stop at 9:59.999, this may not usually effect shorter events but I suspect many results for 4x4 and 5x5 blindfolded in the WCA database are inaccurate.
