The European Championships took place in Arnhem in the Netherlands from July 16-19th and essentially all of the top speedcubers in Europe were there so there was very tough competition for all of the British speedcubers.
Nicholas Archer tied his own European Record for 3x3 one-handed in the first round and was also able to win the event, albeit with a slightly worse average of 8.76 seconds in the final round. Nicholas Archer's tied European Record of 7.95 was also the World Record when he first achieved that time.
Luke Burns broke the National Record for clock with a 1.94 second single in the first round, however, he was actually only ranked 3rd of the UK competitors and 6th overall in that round for average of 5 solves, ultimately he performed badly under the pressure of the 2nd round and failed to make the final, other British competitors such as Cham J. Chambers, Blue James and Caleb Wolf Dunn all made the final but none managed to podium.
Daniel Partridge broke the National Record for 4x4 average in the final round but even this only placed him 7th, Monty Fox also made the 4x4 finals.
James Alonso came surprisingly close to knocking former World Record Holder, Tymon Kolasinski off the 3x3 podium, James's average of 5.96 was just 0.06 seconds away from tying the podium.
Two young British cubers, Max Tully and Tommy Kiely, both made 2x2 finals and were sat right next to each other in the finals, Max Tully narrowly beat Tommy Kiely, coming 7th in the final while Tommy Kiely came 8th.
Danny Morgan came 5th in the finals for 5x5, Daniel Partridge and Monty Fox also made the finals.
Cham J Chambers and Daniel Partridge both made 6x6 finals, coming 8th and 10th.
Daniel Partridge came 5th in 7x7 finals, Danny Morgan came 8th.
3x3 Blindfolded was different to previous championships due to the new format which gives competitors 5 solves, but the ranking is still based on best solve, Ben Stokes was the only UK competitor to make the final and he came 7th with a best time of 18.02, he also managed to get an average of 21.40 as he only DNFed one of the solves.
Fewest Moves was highly competitive and few UK competitors even managed to qualify, Fabio Schwandt finished 6th.
The megaminx final was a close race between the UK's Aidan Grainger and Ireland's Stephanie Rose Martin, ultimately Stephanie was able to win the European Championship with Aidan Grainger a very clear second, Sean Moran and Katie Moughan also made the finals.
Harry Allen was the only UK competitor to make the finals for pyraminx and ultimately came in 9th place, many top UK competitors were unable to handle the pressure of the 2nd round and failed to make the finals, including the UK national record holder Daniel Partridge and 2024 European Championship silver medalist, Edward Burgess.
Ariel Benchetrit was the only UK competitor to make Skewb final
Isaac Corker came 5th in Square-1 final, Yan-Heng Zhang also qualified.
Ryan Eckersley won 4x4 blindfolded easily with a 1:14.92 best single, he was so dominant that he managed to get 3 successful solves in the mean with every single one of them being faster than any from the other competitors, however, he ended up in 4th place in 5x5 blindfolded and only got 25 points in Multi-blind.
