Fabio Schwandt ties 3x3 fewest moves National Record

Fabio Schwandt has further cemented his dominance of UK speedcubing by tying the 3x3 Fewest Moves National Record at The UK FMC championships today.

It was exciting to watch as both Fabio Schwandt and Kai Cui found 20 move solutions for both of the first two scrambles, at that point, the world record was of course technically possible, assuming an 18 move solution was possible for the given scramble. Unfortunately though, Fabio only managed to find a 23 for the final scramble, and Kai Cui only managed a 27.

This result ties the national record of a 21 move mean of 3 that was previously held just by Jaye Sloan, who for some reason didn't actually compete this time. Fabio Schwandt has now held a national record of some sort in every year since 2017.
