The past week has been a very exciting week in speedcubing with many exciting records in various WCA events.
Ryan Eckersley broke the UK national record for 4x4 Blindfolded Single with a time of 1:39.03 at Bishop's Stortford Spring - British Blind Off 2023
Ryan actually only came 3rd at the competition but the sum of the podium times was a new record of 4:49.90:
Ezra Hirschi - 1:34.73
Adrian Dębski - 1:36.14
Ryan Eckersley - 1:39.03
4x4x4 blindfolded podiums are very rarely that close! In many competitions a success alone will get a podium.
Ezra Hirschi got the 5x5x5 blindfolded European record single of 2:57.33 at Bishop's Stortford Spring - British Blind Off 2023
Owen Yipeng Sun got the pyraminx average Asian record of 1.83 at Berkely Spring 2023
YiFan Wang got the 3x3x3 blindfolded Asian record of 17.20 at YongJun KL Speedcubing 2023
Francisco Moraes Mandalozzo got the 5x5x5 average South American Record of 47.20 at Brasilia Bigs and Blind 2023
Jayden Mcneil got the 3x3x3 Fewest Moves Oceanic record of 21.68 at On the Side South Australia 2023
Max Park got the 5x5x5 world record average of 37.00 at Circle City Turbocharged 2023, his times were: 36.81, (43.10), 37.45, (35.90), 36.75
Yiheng Wang (王艺衡) got the 3x3x3 average world record of 4.69 at Yong Jun KL Speedcubing 2023, his times were: 4.35, (3.90), 4.41, 5.31, (6.16), this time they were very careful to ensure there were no misscrambles, Yiheng proves that his 4.75 average he lost was ultimately irrelevant, it will be interesting to see whether he manages to lower it any further now, his best possible average after the 4th solve was an incredible 4.22!
In cube release news we have the Gan 13 Maglev FX coming closer as they should hopefully be arriving tomorrow!
MoYu have released their Huameng YS3M 'Magic Clothes Version', this appears to be an answer to Gan's UV coating so should produce a similar cube but with a different external feel.
DianSheng have teased a magnetic gigaminx again, hopefully it will not be too much longer before it is available.
And finally, the World championships was finally announced on the WCA website last week, registration opened on Tuesday and filled up all 1200 spaces within a day, they may open up more spaces but this is unconfirmed
