Daniel Partridge smashes UK 7x7 national records

Earlier today, at Stevenage October, the UK speedcubing community was surprised with the very fast 7x7 solves achieved by Daniel Partridge, as he lowered the 7x7 national record single by over 11 seconds and the average by over 6 seconds. Previously the national record single was 1:59.83, achieved by Eli Jay last year, this was the UK's only sub-2 7x7 single ever achieved at an official competition and put Eli Jay into a very exclusive club, currently consisting of only 57 people in all the world (but probably half that last year).

Daniel Partridge started his solve with a 2:05.11 which put him just slightly on track to beating the national record mean, it was also only his 5th best solve he had ever done officially, but then on his 2nd solve, he achieved an insane time of 1:48.10, this not only smashed the national record single but pretty much guaranteed him the mean too. He beat his official PR single by over 15 seconds and the NR by 11 seconds! His final solve of 2:05.81 sealed the already practically guaranteed NR mean and clutched it under 2 minutes.

Amusingly, both his single and mean National Records will each take the positions of the legendary spedcuber Feliks Zemdegs on the world rankings. Positions of 18th in single and 25th in average. Feliks Zemdegs himself needs no introduction, he is probably the most famous cuber of all time and held the 7x7 world record for much of 2013-2017, I did not expect to see a British speedcuber beat any of his big cube times for at least another year or two!
