The European Championships in 2026 has now been announced to be taking place in Arnhem in the Netherlands, I actually competed in that city for Dutch Nationals 2024.
The announcement has been a bit later than in previous years, Euros 2024 was announced at Euros 2022 but hopefully this means that it will be well organised. The competition bidding document says that they are aiming for 1000 competitors with the ability to expand, however, they are continuing the trend of the World Championships in setting initial qualification requirements for the first phase of registration with only the top 300 competitors in Europe allowed to register for the most popular events and even more restrictive requirements for other events. I am currently top 300 in Europe for 5x5 but I have a feeling that will no longer be the case by the registration.
Arnhem is located in the Netherlands and is easily accessible for almost anyone in Europe, the Netherlands has a very consistent and reliable public transport network and Arnhem can be accessed from Amsterdam and Eindhoven airports and also from Dusseldorf over the German border, the organisers also plan to establish a camping field near to the venue so that cubers can camp for cheaper accomodation.
