We woke up to the news early on Thursday morning that YiHeng Wang had achieved a single solve of 3.06 seconds on the 3x3, this made him incredibly close to reclaiming his world record but ultimately not close enough, XuanYi Geng's world record of 3.05 still stands.
YiHeng Wang was understandably disappointed with this, as is evident from the only video I could find of it
The solution was also rather unusual, as he used CLL and ELL instead of OLL and PLL, I don't know how he knew that would work out better this time!
It is unusual for competitions to take place on a Thursday but this was a special competition on a cruise that left Singapore on Tuesday, so this means that there may have been some slight movements on the ground due to the cruise ship floating through the sea.
